Planning Does Make Perfect

philadelphia-eagles-world-champions-super-bowl-2018-52-LLIExcuse me if I take a little detour from business to congratulate my hometown Eagles for winning what may be considered the biggest game in their storied franchise history; the Super Bowl. I can finally say the Philadelphia Eagles are World Champions. What a team, what a game, one off my bucket list.

It just goes to show what careful planning and execution can do. Both teams played exceptionally well. Two teams rated at the top of their conferences, near mirror images of each other.

It all came down to one play. The only sack of the game. A game in which the losing team never punted. A game that had just about everything; trick plays, missed points, and one fumble.

Like the shot heard round the world; the ball was knocked loose and the rest is history. The game was a testament to hard work, preparation, attention to detail, adjustments, and finally…execution. Both teams performed well. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner. Thankfully, it was the Eagles.

This should be an example to us all, whether in sports or business, preparation, and attention to detail are paramount to success.

The best players or products don’t always win! It’s how you plan, execute, and how well your team or company, is prepared. Once prepared and trained, it all comes down to trust, teamwork, and execution.

Those that stick to their plan and do it well are those who succeed, both in sports and in business. You gotta have a plan. Do you?

  • Are you prepared to compete in 2018?
  • Do you have a plan on how you’ll attract new business, train personnel and execute?
  • Are you ready for HMDA and other regulatory challenges that may come your way?
  • Do you have systems and technology to monitor productivity, loan quality, and compliance?

Are you proficient in all aspects of your game? Do you know what you don’t know, and are you prepared for the unexpected? You need to be.

It’s no mistake that the two best teams made it to the Super Bowl and played what may be the greatest game ever. They got there because they prepared, analyzed deficiencies throughout the season, and during the game, made needed adjustments and executed on their plans.

Either team could have won; albeit for one big defensive play. Thank you, Brandon Graham!

So, whether your team won or lost, or you didn’t care, you saw a great game and an example of why some teams, or companies, are successful.
